Styled text is not a font file
Understand what actually changes when you copy a fancy letter.
Two ways to change a letter
A traditional font changes how a character is drawn. You can switch the same letter between a serif font and a sans-serif font without changing the underlying character. A Unicode text styler takes a different approach: it replaces supported characters with other characters that resemble styled versions of them. For example, a mathematical bold letter has a different code point from its ordinary counterpart.
Why a style can travel with a paste
Many plain-text fields discard font formatting but preserve the characters you paste. That lets a styled character retain a distinctive appearance. It does not guarantee the same drawing on every device: the receiving app still chooses a font, and its available glyphs determine the appearance.
Where to be careful
Mathematical characters have purposes beyond decoration. Search, pronunciation, spelling checks and username validation may treat them differently from ordinary letters. Keep important information in normal text, use styling sparingly and test the receiving field. If a platform rejects the characters, switch to ordinary text or use an image where images are supported.
